For high-traffic gyms, a weekly or biweekly Top Mat Clean is standard. Under Mat Clean is typically done quarterly, since it involves lifting the mats and takes longer — most gyms don't need it more often than that unless there's a known moisture or odor issue.
Yes. The disinfectant used is a quat-based (quaternary ammonium) product made specifically for athletic surfaces — safe for skin contact once fully dry, and won't degrade mat material the way bleach-based products can over time.
The disinfectant needs about 10 minutes of wet contact time to actually kill pathogens, then mats need to fully air dry before anyone trains on them. Total downtime is usually 20–30 minutes after the clean itself is finished.
Both. Gloves, headgear, shin guards, and wall pads can be added to any mat service — same disinfectant, applied and wiped down by hand.
